Barcelona FC have revealed that coach Tito Vilanova will miss the key domestic Copa Del Rey clash with Malaga on Thursday 24 January 2013 as he undergoes treatment for cancer of the salivary gland.
Vilanova will travel to New York and Jordi Roura will lead the team against Malaga and Osasuna.
-The coach who is following his recuperation treatment will not be present for the match against Malaga, a club spokesman said.
The cancer striken coach is will miss the match against Malaga on Thursday in the Rose Garden where the Catalans will play for a spot in the Copa Del Rey semi final.
But neither will he be with the team three days later at the Camp Nou, where the Catalans will be cited with Osasuna in the twenty-first day of the Liga.
Barcelona could be without their coach up to three games because if the Catalans eliminate Malaga on Thursday, then they should possibly face Real Madrid on January 30 or February 1 coinciding roughly with the dates on which the gaffer could return to Barcelona.
